Pre-Orthodontic Grafts

If you are having orthodontic treatment, your dentist may refer you to make sure you are very healthy periodontally before starting tooth movement. In adults, moving teeth is very traumatic to the teeth, tissue and bone and adults must be monitored carefully and frequently during treatment. We look for tooth resorption, bone resorption, excessive mobility, decay and recession exposing the tooth root. Prevention is key.

Even in children, recession and gum disease is possible. We treat many children before and during orthodontics for frenectomies, grafts, exposure of unerupted teeth, extraction of teeth and placement of Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADS).
